Our Staff

Pastor Rogers has a firm belief in the inspiration and preservation of the Bible, as well as a strong stand for traditional, sacred, Christ-centered music in the church.  Expository preaching with practical application characterizes Pastor Rogers’ pulpit ministry.  It is his consuming passion to see the Savior exalted through the evangelization of sinners and the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry.

His godly wife, Rebecca, serves alongside him as wife, mother, church pianist, Sunday School teacher, and director of the Ladies of Grace ministry.   The Lord has blessed them with 8 children; Alyssa, Katelyn, Hannah, Benjamin, Josiah, Micah, Elizabeth, and Jeremiah.

Pastor Steve Rogers and his family accepted God’s call to pastor the Grace Baptist Church in March of 2007.  Pastor Rogers was led to Christ by his mother at the age of 4, and followed the Lord in believer’s baptism at the age of 11.  Bro. Rogers grew up in an Independent Baptist pastor’s home, where God began to prepare him for future ministry.  After some Bible college training, and marriage to his wife, Rebecca, the Lord led the Rogers to the Calvary Baptist Church in Granville, NY, where he served as Youth and Music Director for nine years.  In 2004, through the study of the Scriptures and the counsel of Godly men, God directed Bro. Rogers to complete his training at Ambassador Baptist College in Lattimore, NC, under the leadership of veteran Evangelist Ron Comfort.

Since taking the pastorate here at Grace, God has blessed the ministry to retire $40k of debt, the completion of several building projects, and the expansion of the ministries of the church, including Master Clubs for kids and the Grace Baptist Bible Institute.

Bro. Mike Downs and his family came to Grace Baptist Church in March of 2010.  He first heard the gospel at age 15 in a small local church in Hughesville, MD.  In  the summer of 1995, as the Lord would have it, Mike accepted Jesus as his personal Savior and was later baptized in 1996. Bro. Downs soon felt the Lord calling him to preach. He started attending Crown College of the Bible in Knoxville, TN in 1999.  He later graduated from Baptist College of America in 2006 with a Bachelor of Church Ministry degree.  Bro. Mike began his ministry as the Assistant Youth Director of Chestertown Baptist Church, Chestertown, MD in 2002. He later felt the Lord leading him to assist a pastor in starting a church in DE, so he helped plant the Heritage Baptist Church in Newark, DE in 2004.  He served there as the Associate Pastor until joining the staff here at Grace Baptist Church in 2010.
